Haiku Writing!!

Haiku is a well-known form of Japanese poetry in the West, which follows the 5-7-5 syllable pattern. This quarter Fourth and Fifth grade students learned the components of haiku writing and composed their own haikus about their favorite holiday.

Here is a glimpse of their work:

Got Books?

Peace Area in Upper Elementary is a special place that gives us time to do some individual reading.  We have a wide variety of reading literature available in the Peace Area.
We wish to thank the Hicks Family (Carson Hicks), the Brannon Family (Clemente Brannon) and the Mefford Family (Maxwell Mefford) for their generous contribution that has added to our book collection.

JBMA Book Fair Kick Off!!

We wish to thank all JBMA families who participated in the BOOK FAIR KICK OFF Event this past weekend at the Barnes & Noble location.  Demonstrations from our Science Club (Ms. Kim) , Math Club (Ms. Salima), Latin Dance Club (Ms. Evelyn) and storytelling from Mr. Zech drew not only JBMA families, but crowds of shoppers and their children.
If you were unable to attend the event, you can still help out. Any purchases made from now until November 22nd at any B&N, its cafes, or when you order online at BN.com/Bookfairs will give a percentage of your purchases to the JBMA Media Center. Just make sure to include our Bookfair ID# 11450806.

We are ROCKING!

This week in geography, students continued to study the science of rocks and the "rock cycle".  We explored how different types of rocks such as igneous, sedimentary, and metamorphic rocks are formed and closely studied some of the rock samples.

Happy Halloween!!

Students utterly enjoyed the Halloween Parade in the morning followed by Fall activities in the afternoon prepared and conducted by our volunteer parents.  We truly appreciate those parents who came in and helped organize the event, as well as those who contributed the supplies and snacks towards the celebration.
Here are some moments from our Halloween Parade ;)
